Feminist Power

When I'm learning History of Art and Design, I realized there are many baroque art paintings against female. The great example for this issue is the painting, "Judith Slaying Holofernes",

You can see there are two women killed a man by using a long sword slaying through the man's neck. After I do the research about this painting, I know that the woman with sword is Judith, the other woman is Judith's maidservant, Abra and the man is Holofernes. This painting was painted by Artemisia Gentileschi, who raped by Agotisno Tassi when she was 18 years old. Tassi promised Artemisia that he will marry her to persuade her to continue sexual relation with him. When I saw this, I was just like, "Why the man can be so bearish to a a woman?"

When her father found out, Tassi was arrested for rape, and Artemisia was thrust into the middle of a celebrated rape case which received considerable publicity and ruined her reputation. Tassi was convicted, but released by the judge, who also ordered Artemisia to be tortured as a means of proving her honesty. Is it women really don't have the reputation and status? Rape is a serious issue no matter which era but why the judge could just released a rapist like that?

Somehow, in 21st century, this kind of cases still happening in Malaysia. For an example, a girl who planned to travel to Pulau Tioman but raped and abused by five men and a customs officer. Why is it no any further news about this serious issue? I guess it is because it involved government officer. That's why the news is just sink into deep sea.
